James Ising is a down to earth and nonjudgmental Psychologist and Counsellor with extensive professional experience. He also holds an associate membership with the Australian Psychological Society. In addition to his private practice, James has a substantial background working in the non-profit, government and health sectors. He provides specialist therapeutic support to individuals, couples and families.

James is strongly committed to building a collaborative working relationship with his clients. This ensures that James’ clients feel understood, valued, respected and empowered. James’ approach to counselling is solution-focused, whilst allowing for detailed exploration of past or current issues. This process provides insight and knowledge, and his clients’ own strengths are used to advance their goals. James focuses on equipping his clients with practical skills and strategies that enable them to live their best possible life.

James adopts a client-centred approach to counselling: this allows his clients to tell their story at their own pace, and participate fully in achieving their desired outcomes. James draws on multiple therapeutic methods in his practice, tailoring sessions to meet his clients’ unique needs and goals. Techniques that James uses include: Interpersonal Therapy, Insight Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy and Existential Therapy. James is deeply dedicated to creating positive change in his clients’ lives.
